MICHAEL V. BERGEN

October 17, 1971   -   January 29, 1999

Michael V. Bergen passed away on Friday, January 29th, 1999 after a life long battle with Cystic Fibrosis.  Michael was 27 years of age.  He is survived by his wife, Lisa, his parents, Pete and Karen Bergen, and his sister, Jaime.

Refusing to allow Cystic Fibrosis to rule his life, Michael was active in wrestling from elementary school until high school.  After high school Michael could be seen helping his dad, Pete, run the Milton Elementary Wrestling Program.  Michael would help teach in the wrestling room and would serve as announcer during home elementary wrestling matches.  This activity helped Michael become close to many in the Milton Wrestling Program, from elementary through high school.  It was only in the latter stages of his disease that Michael had to move to the sidelines.

One of Michael's greatest attributes was that he always thought of other people first. Never mind the physical problems that he was experiencing, he always made it a point to ask about you and about your family.  Michael had a great sense of humor and was quick to share a joke.  He was also very talented with a sketch pad and pencil.

Michael was loved by all that knew him and he will be missed by all who crossed his path.  The angels in heaven are richer for our loss.
